Catherine Bator

Catherine Bator is the author of the novel A Good, Hard Slap, the origin story for the forthcoming Nick and Gracie detective series. Her stories have appeared in Embark, The Coachella Review, Tertulia Magazine, Everything Intensely: 2022 San Francisco Writers Conference Contest Anthology and others.

Before earning her MFA in Writing from the University of San Francisco, Catherine worked with comedy writers at MGM, Paramount, Universal and Goldwyn studios. Her year of working in the steno pool at MGM inspired her novel A Good Hard Slap. She now lives in San Francisco with her husband Frank and a naughty wire-haired fox terrier named Buster Keaton.

You can often find her enjoying a vintage cocktail in one of San Francisco’s historic watering holes. If you’d like to escape to the Jazz Age with Catherine, visit JazzAgeJunkie. Just remember: “Too much of anything is bad, but too much of the Jazz Age is just right.” Apologies to F. Scott Fitzgerald.
